Master the Art of Negotiation and Find Confidence in Conflict with Kwame Christian | EP 18

Do you have a hard time saying no, for fear that you will lose relationships?

Do you have a hard time asking for the things you want?

Does the thought of conflict (of any kind!) make you want to run and hide?

Then this episode is for you!

I’ll be interviewing an expert in conflict and negotiation, who will teach us how to get what we want, while also protecting our time and relationships. He will give us practical tips and examples for how we can be empowered by difficult conversations, instead of afraid of them.

Kwame Christian

Today on the podcast, I’m interviewing Kwame Christian, a business lawyer, negotiation and conflict expert, and founder and Director of the American Negotiation Institute.

He is the host of the popular Negotiate Anything podcast, which has been downloaded over 350,000 times! He also has a TEDx talk called Finding Confidence in Conflict, which was viewed 24,000 times in less than 24 hours.

In other words… Kwame is legit.

His latest accomplishment is a brand new book, called "Nobody Will Play With Me: How To Use Compassionate Curiosity to Find Confidence in Conflict”. This book is now available on Amazon and it is so good. I’m reading it right now and it has so many practical examples, backed by research, of his framework called Compassionate Curiosity.

Why this topic is SO important

Kwame knows his stuff you guys and today he’s going to share that knowledge with us as we talk about leaning into difficult conversations and the inspiration behind his book.

I know I always say “I’m so excited for this interview today!” And, as we will talk about in this interview, I am easily excitable. However, this interview with Kwame has so much practical advice that is seriously going to change your life and I am truly excited to share this with you!

If you listen to this interview and apply what Kwame has to say, you will see an improvement in your own confidence, the way your peers respect you, your ability to get what you want, and the depth of your relationships.

I know this for a fact because I have been using it myself. I’ve been leaning into conflict more, putting myself through rejection therapy, and seeing my confidence grow every day. As Kwame says, "The best things in life often lie on the other side of a difficult conversation. “

And for you my podcast listeners, I want you to be brave. I want to give you all the tools you need in your emotional toolbox to go after all the things you want in life. I know you have big dreams and today’s interview is going to help you get there.

The Seasons of Love - "Autumn" Song and Story with Kayley Nell | EP 17

It’s that time of year when the temperature drops and we can finally pull out our favorite sweaters and order pumpkin spice lattes!

And just as the leaves and the seasons change, so do the seasons of love.

Today’s episode is a song and story interview with an amazingly talented singer/songwriter who will share with us why the season of “Autumn” is so special in our lives and in love :)

      Kayley Nell

Kayley has been singing since she was about 5 years old. She has the home videos to prove it!

She began writing silly songs in elementary school for her friends during recess and learned to play guitar in high school, bringing all her skills together to be the amazing songwriter and performer that she is today.

I met Kayley in college at a few different songwriting events and we reconnected after school when I saw her post multiple photos dressed as a Disney princess.

I just had to ask her “What is it that you do?!?!”.

After finding out that she was a singing princess at birthday parties, I knew that we were destined to be best friends. So naturally, I invited her to tea and the rest is history.

Kayley is about as Positively Delighted as you can get (and so is her music!!). I was so excited to get to interview her about her song “Autumn” and about her songwriting journey.

You can listen to “Autumn” on her latest album “Texas to Tennessee”.

      update on kayley!!

Since this interview (which was recorded earlier this spring), Kayley has fearlessly pursued her dream of becoming a songwriter. In August, she had the opportunity to join the set of the Pickler and Ben Show in Nashville, but… she had to move to Nashville and start working THE NEXT WEEK.

Well… SHE DID IT!! I’m so incredibly proud of her for picking up her entire life and figuring it out. Within days, she found a place to live, drove out to Tennessee, and started working. Literally one week she was living in Texas and the next she was playing open mic at the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.

Talk about making dreams come true!! <3 <3 <3

      • The nostalgic feelings of first love

      • Kayley’s new album “Texas to Tennessee” and the inspiration behind the songs

Kayley’s album “Texas to Tennessee” is absolutely amazing. I have it in my car and listen to it over and over and over and over again. It features “Autumn”, plus other songs mentioned in the episode such as “Bless Your Heart” and “Alterations”.
